Kirk Douglas
Kirk Douglas (născut Issur Danielovitch; 9 decembrie 1916 – 5 februarie 2020) a fost un actor, producător, regizor și autor american. A crescut ca Izzy Demsky și și-a schimbat legal numele în Kirk Douglas înainte de a intra în Marina Statelor Unite în timpul celui de-al Doilea Război Mondial. În timpul carierei sale, Douglas a apărut în peste 90 de filme și a fost cunoscut pentru stilul său de actorie exploziv. A devenit o vedetă internațională pentru rolul său principal de erou de box fără scrupule din Champion (1949), care i-a adus prima sa nominalizare la Premiul Oscar pentru cel mai bun actor. Printre alte filme timpurii se numără Young Man with a Horn (1950), Ace in the Hole (1951) și Detective Story (1951), film pentru care a primit o nominalizare la Globul de Aur ca cel mai bun actor într-o dramă. A primit o a doua nominalizare la Oscar pentru rolul din The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) și a treia nominalizare pentru rolul lui Vincent van Gogh în Lust for Life (1956), ceea ce ia adus o a doua nominalizare la Globul de Aur. În 1955, Douglas a înființat Bryna Productions, care a produs filme la fel de variate precum Paths of Glory (1957) și Spartacus (1960). A luat rolurile principale în ambele filme. Douglas a fost lăudat pentru că a ajutat la spargerea listei negre de la Hollywood, punându-l pe Dalton Trumbo să scrie Spartacus cu un credit oficial pe ecran. În 1963, Douglas a jucat în piesa de pe Broadway One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, o poveste pe care a cumpărat-o și apoi i-a dat-o fiului său Michael Douglas, care a transformat-o într-un film câștigător de Oscar. În calitate de actor și filantrop, Douglas a primit un Oscar pentru întreaga activitate și medalia prezidențială a libertății. Ca autor, a scris zece romane și memorii. El este pe locul 17 pe lista Institutului American de Film cu cele mai mari legende masculine ale cinematografiei clasice de la Hollywood. Kirk Douglas a murit la vârsta de 103 ani.
