Ντένις Χόπερ
Ντένις Χόπερ
Αμερικανός ηθοποιός και σκηνοθέτης. Γεννήθηκε το 1936 στο Ντοτζ Σίτι του Κάνσας. Σπούδασε υποκριτική στο Actors Studio. Πρωτοεμφανίστηκε στην τηλεόραση και στη συνέχεια «πέρασε» στον κινηματογράφο. Υπήρξε φίλος με τον Τζέιμς Ντιν, με τον οποίο έπαιξαν μαζί στον "Επαναστάτη χωρίς αιτία" και στον "Γίγαντα". Το 1969 μαζί με τον Πίτερ Φόντα, και τον Τέρι Σάουθερν γράφουν το σενάριο του "Ξένοιαστου καβαλάρη", μια ταινία με θέμα το πνεύμα περιπλάνησης και ελευθερίας της γενιάς των μπήτνικς. Τη σκηνοθετεί ο ίδιος. Το συνολικό κόστος της ταινίας φτάνει τα 340.000 δολάρια. Η ταινία σημειώνει τεραστία επιτυχία, τα έσοδά της ξεπερνούν τα 50 εκατομμύρια δολάρια και χαρίζει στο Χόπερ το βραβείο πρωτοεμφανιζόμενου σκηνοθέτη στο Φεστιβάλ Κανών. Το 1971 σκηνοθετεί την ταινία με τον δυσοίωνο τίτλο "The Last Movie" ("Η τελευταία ταινία"). Η ταινία αυτή υπήρξε μια μεγάλη αποτυχία. Τότε αρχίζει η σχέση του Χόπερ με τις ναρκωτικές ουσίες. Θα καταφέρει να νικήσει τα ναρκωτικά και να αναγεννηθεί όταν ο Φράνσις Φορντ Κόπολα του δίνει μια δεύτερη ευκαιρία το 1979 προσφέροντάς του ένα ρόλο στην ταινία "Αποκάλυψη τώρα".
