John Milius
John Frederick Milius ist ein US-amerikanischer Drehbuchautor und Filmregisseur. Er gilt als Mitglied der New-Hollywood-Generation. Bekannt wurde er Anfang der 1970er Jahre durch die Drehbücher zu „Das war Roy Bean“ (1972), „Jeremiah Johnson“ (ebenfalls 1972) und den ersten beiden „Dirty Harry“-Filmen. Sein Regiedebüt gab er mit „Dillinger“ (1973), gefolgt von „Der Wind und der Löwe“ (1975) und „Tag der Entscheidung“ (1978). 1980 wurde er für „Apocalypse Now“, das er gemeinsam mit Francis Ford Coppola schrieb, für den Oscar für das beste adaptierte Drehbuch nominiert. In den 1980er Jahren etablierte sich Milius als Regisseur von Action- und Abenteuerfilmen mit „Conan der Barbar“ (1982) und „Die rote Flut“ (1984). Er war auch ein produktiver Drehbuchautor. Später war er Mitschöpfer der mit dem Primetime Emmy Award ausgezeichneten Fernsehserie „Rom“ (2005–2007).
