André Roussimoff
André René Roussimoff, besser bekannt als André the Giant, wurde am 19. Mai 1946 in Coulommiers, Frankreich, geboren und verstarb am 28. Januar 1993 in Paris. Er war ein französischer Profi-Wrestler und Schauspieler, der aufgrund seiner enormen Größe und seines massiven Körperbaus als das „Achte Weltwunder“ bezeichnet wurde.
Seine Karriere begann 1966, und er wurde schnell zu einer internationalen Wrestling-Ikone. Besonders bekannt wurde er durch seine Auftritte in der World Wrestling Federation (WWF), wo er unter anderem gegen Hulk Hogan kämpfte und 1988 die WWF Championship gewann.
Neben seiner Wrestling-Karriere war André auch als Schauspieler tätig und spielte unter anderem die Rolle des Fezzik im Film „Die Braut des Prinzen“ (1987). Trotz seiner gesundheitlichen Probleme blieb er bis zu seinem Tod eine bedeutende Figur im Wrestling und in der Popkultur.
