Vanessa Williams

Un'artista pop-R&B americana, produttrice, ballerina, modella e attrice. Nel 1983 è diventata la prima donna di origine afroamericana ad essere incoronata Miss America, ma uno scandalo che coinvolgeva fotografie di nudo l'ha costretta a rinunciare presto al suo titolo. Williams si è ripresa lanciando una carriera come intrattenitrice, guadagnando nomination ai Grammy, agli Emmy e ai Tony Award. Williams ha pubblicato il suo album di debutto The Right Stuff nel 1988, che ha generato le hit "The Right Stuff", un #1 su Hot Dance Songs, e "Dreamin'", un #1 su R&B e #8 su Billboard Hot 100. Il suo secondo album in studio, The Comfort Zone, nel 1991 ha raggiunto la vetta della Billboard R&B Album Chart e ha generato la hit numero uno, "Save the Best for Last". Nel 1994 ha debuttato a Broadway nel musical Kiss of the Spider Woman. Nel 1995 ha registrato il premio Oscar per la migliore canzone originale, "I colori del vento", dal film d'animazione Disney Pocahontas. Ha continuato a raggiungere la posizione #4 nella Billboard Hot 100. Il primo ruolo cinematografico importante di Williams è stato quello di protagonista del film Eraser nel 1996. Ha anche recitato nei film Soul Food, Balla con me, Le avventure di Elmo a Grouchland, Shaft e Johnson Family Vacation. Dal 2006 al 2010 ha interpretato il ruolo della diva egocentrica ed ex top model Wilhelmina Slater nella serie comica della ABC Ugly Betty. Nel 2009, Williams ha pubblicato il suo ottavo album in studio, The Real Thing. Nel 2010 è entrata a far parte del cast della serie Desperate Housewives nel ruolo della ricca donna viziata Renee Perry.
